Welcome to the Feminine Wellness Newsletter. I am Red Alinsod, M.D., a Urogynecologist and Aesthetic Vulvovaginal Surgeon (also called Cosmetic Gynecologist). I am in Laguna Beach, California, have a 30+ year practice specializing in women’s health issues, and an avid educator. My goal is to share with you the current state-of-the-art, what works, what is safe, and my personal opinion on all things about feminine wellness.
My staff include Diane. She stands next to me. Has been with me for 18 years. She answers all the phone calls and email. She is my Wall and Gatekeeper in Chief. She keeps her ears to the ground and knows what concerns women. Next to her is Brenda, here holding her birthday cake. Her career has been focused as a caregiver. She is my Medical Assistant with the heart of a lamb and gentleness of a loving mom. She will bring your blood pressure down several points. On the far right is Marisol. She has been my loyal and exceptionally able Medical Assistant for almost a decade. She is the chief efficiency and technology officer for my practice. All three answer their own emails and calls and texts and are Johny-on-the-spot for my patients. There is no better team out there. I am exceptionally blessed to have these ladies.
As for me, this is my 32nd year of practice. Finished my training at Loma Linda University in 1990 in OBGYN. Did 4 years with the Air Force. Left as a Major then went into private group practice in Los Angeles for a decade. I was recruited to move to Orange County in 2004 and have stayed here since opening up South Coast Urogynecology, Inc.
Most of my time is clinical medicine, doing lots of procedures, doing lots of surgeries. I teach lots of doctors. My Alinsod Institute is the first and oldest training program in the world that focuses on Cosmetic Gynecology and Reconstructive Vulvovaginal Surgery (Alinsod Institute). It is very interactive with my amazing patients who are dedicated to telling their stories and helping teach my docs.
I do lots of educational events, go out to Congresses in the US and abroad. I run workshops and surgical training events.
I also do quite a bit of product development and work with industry leaders and newbie companies with great ideas. Examples are my ThermiVa invention and the specialized O-Shot Speculum. The Emsella Chair (Pee Pee Chair) seen below is also one device I helped introduced to the US from Prague. It is the fun part of my job exploring new tech that is both device related and biologic in nature such as Platelet Rich Plasma and Amniotic Fluid and Exosomes. I get to travel all over the world and preach the gospel of Feminine Wellness, I get to go on TV once in a while and teach the world. All in all a pretty good gig that gives me joy everyday.
